Rachid
Bouchareb is a native of Morocco and started his culinary career by attending Hotel School in
Morocco. In addition to culinary and service training, he was educated in all aspects of hotel management,
giving him an insight into service and customer care. He is fluent in three languages (French, Arabic and English), with conversational knowledge of German and Spanish. After finishing school, Rachid continued his culinary training in the
Netherlands, England, Germany, France and Switzerland. In 1976 he opened the Old Town Restaurant in Muscatine, Iowa. Later, he opened Chez Rachid in the Hotel Muscatine, both of which were celebrated restaurants and sold to other proprietors. In 1982, he and his wife Therese opened Le Figaro Restaurant in downtown Rock Island, which is the culmination of his education, training, and experience. Rachid and Therese live in Rock Island and they have three grown children.
